2008 DNC Host Committee Breakfast

The Business Behind the Politics

The Harvard Business School Club of Colorado invites you to a breakfast with the Denver Democratic National Convention 2008 Host Committee.

The Host Committee (a non-partisan, non-profit organization), along with Mayor Hickenlooper, Governor Ritter, and Senator Salazar, assembled the winning bid to bring the Democratic National Convention to Denver in 2008. This was no small feat considering the last time the party's convention was here was in 1908. What were the secrets to their success? What do Colorado and surrounding states stand to gain from hosting the convention in Denver? Come learn about convention activities and how Colorado businesses can play a critical role.

We will be joined by Elbra Wedgeworth (President), Mike Dino (CEO), and Steve Farber (Executive Committee) of the Denver 2008 Host Committee as they share their experiences and invite our participation. The Host Committee has pledged to raise a total of $45 million to $50 million in cash from sponsors as part of its contractual obligation in planning and organizing Denver's efforts around hosting the Democratic National Convention Aug. 25-28.
