Is the Recession Killing the Internet?

Presented by the Denver Business Series

In the wake of declining traditional marketing opportunities, what should be the priorities for infusing digital media advertisers and technologists in a downsizing world?  How should new media be used to market products and services in a distressed economy?  What will become of the consumer who is taking ever-increasing control of content delivery, consumption, and branding from networks, studios, publishers, and retailers?  Can the internet help us to innovate out of a down economy?

The economic downturn of 2008 is having a dramatic effect on the world of digital commerce and technology.  By all accounts, the impact potentially represents a paradigm shift that may be sustained for years to come.  Is the internet the latest victim of the economy, or might it prove to be its savior?  Is web 2.0 a hoax without a sustainable business model?  What about the mobile web?

The Denver Business Series (which is comprised of alumni representatives from leading national and local graduate business schools, including HBS) invites you to join them for a stimulating discussion on the state of the internet economy (for both traditional and digital marketing and advertising practices) with a distinguished panel of service providers, interactive advertising agencies, e-retailers, and venture capitalists.  Participants will leave this event better informed about new trends in digital media, advertising, and next-generation media-oriented business models.  They will also leave having explored the future of information technologies and services and having gained critical insight and direction to help drive their strategic and operational decision-making processes.
